All For One: The Mighty Harold Battiste Tour
As a musician, producer, arranger, A&R man and all around spiritual force, Harold Battiste’s long and varied career shaped much of what the world has come to know as New Orleans music. Producing such 45s as Jerry Byrne’s white hot rocker “Lights Out” and Barbara George’s influential 1961 R&B smash “I Know” is impressive enough, but the modern jazz LP Monkey Puzzle and Dr. John’s Gris-Gris album show Battiste’s remarkable range. He opened ears wherever he went, from studio sessions with Sam Cooke to the University of New Orleans, where he influenced generations of jazz students.
